How do I get started?

Now your ready to create jobs and clock hours.

Is Turnover free?
We strive to keep Turnover free for single users, so freelancers can enjoy its core features without cost. However, building and improving the platform takes significant time and resources. If you find Turnover helpful, please consider supporting us through our voluntary freelancer subscription — quality of life features will be added here in the future.
If you're a producer looking to gather work times from your crew all in one place, Turnover is available under a producer subscription.
Day to day
How do I create a job?
Go to Jobs → Add Job:
- Enter the basic job details: production name, company, and your position.
- Set the contract rate and choose the interval — per hour or per day. The processor adjusts for workday hours automatically.
- Choose if you’re invoicing from your own company or getting a salary from the employer. If invoicing, set your social cost percentage.
- Select a processor to calculate your work hours into a fee.
If your production uses Turnover, they’ll add the job for you — just check if its according to contract. Once tje first first workday is approved, the job can not change.
How do I clock in/out?
You can clock in/out in 3 ways:
- Dashboard / Jobs — Click the status icon, clocked in times on a job entry or Clock in / out.
- Jobs → Add Days — to add multiple days at once (limited input options available).
- Jobs → CSV Import — to upload entries in bulk. Contact support for an example file.
If you only want to clock in, leave the clock out time blank.
See: Overrides and Default overrides.
What does the status icons mean?
- Active job.
- On the Clock.
- Approved.
- Rejected.
- Adjusted (sent in, rejected then corrected by the worker).
- In progress.
- Sent.
- Not sent.
Overrides
What are overrides?
Overrides is a way for you to give additional inputs to the processor. It could be everything from turning a calculation parameter on / off, adding travel time, or saying that this day should be a part of an weekly average calculation.
Only overrides known by the processor will be displayed as an option when you edit your job entry.
Must not be confused with Adding Payment. If you made an agreement with your employer on the fly that it will be paid a special way, and it can not be handled by the processor. You can add or edit payment lines after the calculation has been done. Note that this change will follow whatever processor you may add later. These changes are separately tracked so you easily can find out who and when the change happened.
See: Travel Time, Lunch Deduction.
What are default overrides?
Default overrides are settings that are automatically applied whenever a new job entry is created. They ensure certain options or values are prefilled based on your production setup.
You can define default overrides at the Production, Crew, or Job level. If multiple levels define the same override, the Job level takes priority over Crew, and Crew over Production.
Travel Time.
Travel Time has two main options:
- Enter minutes traveled before and/or after your workday.
- If the entire day is spent traveling, select Yes under Travel day. It then uses the clock in and out times as travel times.
The Processor will know how much travel time that needs to be deducted, so enter your actual travel duration.
In some cases, there may be more than one rule for deductions — choose the correct one under Travel Time Deduction.
Note: If you are the driver of a car, this time usually counts as work time, not travel time. Check with your production for guidance.
Lunch Deduction.
Lunch Deduction is applied when an employee is provided lunch. This ensures the meal’s value is reported correctly for taxation purposes.
Select the correct option from the presets if available, or add one manually.
If you want an option to be automatically selected when adding a workday, you can set a default override when editing the job or by contacting your production.
Technical
What is a processor?
A Processor is responsible for converting job and workday (job entry) details into a payable fee. Without a processor, Turnover can’t calculate the payment for a workday.
Some calculations depend on information from other days — for example, weekly average calculations or turnover — so Turnover will keep re-checking the fee to ensure it’s up to date until the approval process has started.
If you change the processor, the calculated fees for your workdays may change. This can happen until the job is archived or the workday is sent for approval by the production.

How do I import crew with csv?
Download and open this example file in Excel (or another spreadsheet tool). When you’re done editing, export the file as .csv (comma-separated). Then upload it on the Crew page in Turnover. If your file contains columns that Turnover doesn’t recognize, they will simply be ignored during import.
Processor: To ensure the correct processor is applied to a job, fill in the Processor Identifier column with one of the following values. If you need a version other than the current one, specify it in the Processor Version column.
- NFF_REKLAME_NO_1999
- NFF_SPILLEFILM_NO_2024
- NFF_TVDRAMA_NO_2024
- NFF_TVUNDERHOLDNING_NO_2024
Rate: Enter the crew member’s rate in the Rate column. In the Rate Interval column, specify whether the rate is per hour or per day. If the crew member sends invoices, add any value (e.g. “yes”) in the Invoicing column.
